March, 2005 Archives

I shot this on the same night as the color photos from a couple weeks ago. Because I scanned the black & white negative in color, it may not look black & white on your monitor.

Majestic

This statue of Gandhi is across from the Indian Embassy near Dupont Circle. I shot this during a late-night walk through the city with Sandro.

Gandhi

I spent a couple hours one Saturday afternoon wandering around Brookside Gardens looking for good photos. The smaller girl encouraging the older sister to play hopscotch on the stones was one of the better ones. The only modification was “Enhance” in iPhoto.

Hopscotch

I took this shot of the theater during a late-night stroll around downtown Silver Spring, MD. Not too many years ago, before all the new development, I could have gotten mugged very easily in this area. On this night, the streets were all but deserted.

A group of us gathers on Friday nights, usually for Bible study, but often just to talk. This shot is of one of our less-regular attendees. Originally shot in color, my friend Sandro converted it to black and white and smoothed out the graininess a bit.

Osmund

After church one Saturday evening, I ran into a girl I remembered from high school. It had been long enough since the last time I’d seen her that I didn’t know she had a son. The photo was originally in color but ended up converted to black & white because of the unfriendly light in the church and the dreadful film I was shooting with last week.

Marquita’s Son

I conspired with some of my sister’s friends to throw a surprise party at her house. This was taken right when she came in the door.

A photo of the church I attend. I took the picture before sunset on a Saturday afternoon.

Church Sunset

I took this photo of my friend Brenda and her daughter Sophia after a New Community Fellowship church service. The original is in color, but I used iPhoto to convert it to black & white. Kudos to Sandro for suggesting it would be brilliant in black & white.
