About Me

I’ve been writing software for a living since 1996, mostly in the form of websites and web applications.  This blog began in 2003 as an effort to write about whatever happened to be on my mind at the time.  Since then it has narrowed into more of a developer’s notebook, where I capture my process in solving various technical problems I’ve encountered in my work for different employers.  Over the years I’ve been writing it, this blog has had the unexpected benefit of drawing feedback from other developers who come across the site.  I’ve learned a lot from the comments that has helped my professional growth.

Since my current employer (FEi Systems) has a social media policy for all of its employees, I will say here that every post here is my personal opinion.  They don’t represent the views or opinions of FEi Systems in any way, shape or form.

Beyond work, I enjoy traveling with my wife, listening to music (particularly live jazz), reading, or keeping up with my photography hobby.  When football season rolls around, I root for the Washington Redskins.
